Strawberry picking with the Messigs

We drove to Plain City (which may be where we buy our first farm ;-) to go strawberrry picking with the Messigs this morning. Such a fun way to spend some time outdoors with the kiddies and just look at all the loot with brought home with us. Now, i need to find a fun recipe or two for this weekend! strawberry pancakes, strawberry margaritas, strawberry salads, strawberry tarts, strawberry juice....the sky is the limit!

What a blessing to spend a day like today with my children and friends. Thank you Lord for that gift!

isn't that beautiful?

It's coming up leafy greens!

I haven't been very good about documenting our garden but we'll consider this a nice place to start...early May and I just picked my first bunch of spinach - Yahoo! This year we have spinach, kale, beets, cabbage, red leafy lettuce, squash, tomatoes, peppers, basil, dill, cucumber, cilantro, beans, peas, celery and carrots.

this is the kids flower garden....just wait to see what grows from those teeny, tiny sprouts

Happy Birthday Dougie Poo!

It's quite clear we are getting older this year. I turned 35 last month and Doug 36 last weekend. What happened to 20 and 21? Didn't we just start dating? In honor of Doug's birthday his body decided to give him his first experience with Gout. Mmmm hmmm, Gout. He has made it through the worst of the initial flair up now, thank goodness, and we've made even more adjustments to our diets (say good bye to coffee) among other things. Anywho, to lighten the mood, I made a 2 foot vegan chocolate cake in the shape of a foot for his birthday party. He was, as always, a very good sport.

Happy Birthday dear Doug, I love you with Gout as much as I do with out it ;-)

Happy Mothers Day to me!

Jonah's preschool class had a special Mother's Day Tea last week in honor of yours truly and I receieved all sorts of beautiful gifts....a corsage, a hand-painted flower pot with a marigold and this wonderful card! He really captured the life of a stay at home mom, didn't he?

I love you Jonah Boy!
