YEAH!!! One down, two more to go...

Thank goodness my first trimester is over!  I love getting my weekly, online updates on the progress of my pregnancy....today's message read:

Hi sarah,
welcome to your second trimester! This is a time to celebrate! Not only does your risk of miscarriage drop dramatically, the next 11 weeks should be easier than these last few months. Your body has adjusted to full baby-growing mode so many of the unpleasant symptoms will subside and, while you are beginning to look pregnant, your belly isn't big enough yet to be cumbersome or uncomfortable.

thank goodness!!  I'm ready to start eating normally again, staying up past 8pm and training for that marathon.  ok, maybe not the marathon but, I am ready to feel like myself again.  If I were guess the sex of this baby based on a comparison between this pregnancy and my first one, I'd say all signs say, "it's a girl."  But, we'll have to wait sometime before we find that out.

how amazing is this???  some more bits from babycenter.com
How your baby's growing:
Fingerprints have formed on your baby's tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you're having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.

Now, sissy, I'm not sure what point size a medium shrimp is but, I'm thinking a 10 point?

guess who just woke up from a nap?

(good morning Jonah...!)

A day at the park

We took jonah to a few new parks last week in Powell....Liberty Park and the Splash Pad!

(jonah climbs the slide in his new muscle shirt)

(yeah, daddy made it out of the tiny opening on the baby slide!)

(not quite ready to explore, jonah just watches the water)

(next time we come, he may be running around...)

A gold medal gymnast, age 60....unbelievable!

There wasn't a question in any of the mind's of the national panel of judges
last week at The 2008 Olympic Games in Bejing...Mimi Natia McCall scored a
perfect 10 on her balance beam routine. A few words that were used by the
judges during her performance....ease, grace, superior strength, flexibility
and perfection. What a dismount!! Mimi set a new standard in the world of
gymnastics and can you believe she's 60 years old?

This is what Mimi had to say about her training
"Thank you, thank-you, thank you...It's been a long hard struggle for perfection, but I'm pleased to announce that I Am ready for the challenge. I have trained relentlessly and it's paid off. What can I say? I just hope that a little of what I have learned, a little of the perseverence and discipline has rubbed off on my children...that's all. M"

Congratulations Mimi, we hope to see you in London in 2012...!

10 things I've learned as a first time mother

Today is Jonah's 1st Birthday!  Born at 5:56 am, one year ago this morning.  As I drove into work this morning, after dropping him off at school,  I was thinking of all the things I've learned over the past year.  Wow, it's been an incredible year!

1.  I never thought I could love anything more than Bella and of course Doug, but I've realized there isn't a cap to the amount of love a mother has to share....it just keeps coming.
2.  A first time mother receives advice from everyone, including; the mailman, the neighbor with no children and the sweet 16 year old clerk at the grocery store.....but it's true as true can be, only a mother knows what's best for her child - it's just an instinctive gift from God
3.  Everything is momentary.  The middle of the night crying, the gymnastics during a diaper change, the snuggling at bed time...all things come to an end sooner than later.  So, take a deep breath and enjoy the moment while it lasts.
4.  Things that really mattered to you before you have your first child don't even register on the list of priorities any more...and it's ok!
5.  Regardless of how you're wired, learn to nap when they nap.
6.  No one will find the 86 minutes of video snippets from your child's first year quite as entertaining as you do ;-)
7.  You have to take a break from your to-do list to play...no matter how old the baby is....dance together, sing the words of a book rather than read, make a car out of the empty box of diapers and scoot around the house, fill up bowls of water and splash around on the kitchen floor...just play and engage!
8.  You can never have too many conversations...babies are sponges and they learn very quickly.  Talk about what you see, hear and feel through out the day and before you know it, you'll be having a two sided conversation (even if some people call it babble).
9.  Just when a feeding and/or sleeping schedule seems to take hold....the baby will likely catch a cold, have a growth spurt or start teething.  You have no choice but to roll with the interruptions and know that things will get back on course soon enough.
10.  I can remember my life before Jonah but I can't imagine my life without him.  He has been a tremendous blessing to Doug and me and I thank God for giving him to us!

Happy 1st Birthday Sweet Jonah!

What a fun weekend.....we had Jonah's 1st Birthday Party.  Our families, friends and neighbors came to eat, drink, and put together a radio flyer coupe car!  Thank you to everyone for all of your love over this past year and HOLY COW for all of the fun gifts on Saturday!!!  Jonah has already played with each toy but certainly has a new found love for his red sports car...in - out, in-out, stand up - sit down, open door, shut door, play the radio, push the the turn signals...repeat, repeat, repeat.

Thank you to everyone that was able to celebrate with us, we certainly enjoyed the evening!

What a blessing!

Doug and I met with Dr. Soder on Monday afternoon for our 1st ultra sound.  The baby measured to a tee,  9 weeks and 3 days and already has all of his/her vital organs, pieces and parts and a strong and healthy heart (174 bpm).  The baby was wiggling all around on the screen....probably b/c I drank a diet cherry 7-up on my way to the apppointment  ;-)
