last week we went to Annie and Aaron Ober's wedding in Wooster, Ohio. it was a beautiful summer day...the ceremony took place in an ornate catholic church and reception under tents overlooking a golf course at the Wooster Inn. it was so fun to meet so many ober and king family members that i've only ever heard stories about and jillian looked so stunning with her new curly hair do and her gorgeous dress and heels.

we fed jonah lunch on the college of wooster campus prior to the wedding and had a small scale photo shoot...he was just too cute in his little sailor outfit (thank you missy!)
the weekend ended with the most beautiful rainbow that crossed the entire farm....it was truly amazing!

Father's Day

Today was a beautiful summer day as well as Doug's first Father's Day! We enjoyed our morning with some coffee and a sticky bun and then went to the zoo with jonah for the first time. We were able to see a lion, a tiger, a bear...oh my! and an elephant, tons of beautiful fish, some otters, kangaroos, an enormous python and more. While the animals were fun to see, there was some serious people watching going on, too. We decided not to eat the greasy, fair food for lunch and opted instead for a trip to whole foods on our way home...mmmm. jonah swam in his pool for a bit but was way more interested in playing with the broom.
doug fell asleep in the hammock and jonah in his highchair and it's only 5:22...
Happy Father's Day Doug Trueman
you're a wonderful husband and an awesome Father!
xoxo

9 months, 22 days, 4 hours and 19 minutes

...that's how long it's been since I have been without jonah!  dougie and jonah are driving to grandma and papa trueman's house for the night.  it should be a good trip for all of them!  it'll be sad to come home from work to an empty house... ;-(

looks like it will be a girls night for bella and me....frisbee at the park, manicures and pedicures, popcorn for dinner and who knows what else!

Be safe da-da and jonah and enjoy your adventure together - miss you already!!

mr. mom

today is doug's first, official day as Mr. Mom....!  after nearly 14 years of dedication and passion for the business, doug ended his career with true design on Friday.  a bitter-sweet decision to say the least.  the "sweet" is that he has the opportunity to be home with jonah as he searches for his next job.  just when you think things are going along the way you "planned".....they aren't... BUT, there always seems to be something special hiding among the change.  in this particular instance, doug will have the chance to care for jonah in a way we never before imagined.   and while jonah may not always remember being 9 months old...his da-da certainly will.

have fun today!!!!  ily both

they grow up so fast

"they grow up so fast" is what everyone tells you when you have a child....and it's true. for nine months we've watched jonah learn to lift his head, roll onto his tummy, lift himself onto all fours, smile, laugh, eat, play with toys, etc. all the while, we haven't noticed how fast we have grown ourselves...as a married couple, as parents and as individuals. the moment we were sworn into parenthood, we started growing at the speed of lightning. making big desicions for our young, new family. the past three days have been full of emotion and billions of questions as we placed jonah in daycare...is this the right thing to do? what choices do we have? will they care for him in a manner we are comfortable with? will he adjust quickly or will it take him a while? will he enjoy his time with new faces and lots of interaction? will he better off for it in the long run? how temporary is temporary? just two years ago the most pressing questions we asked were, should the groomsmen wear tuxedos or khaki suits, should we have a band or a dj and where should we go for our honeymoon. my how things have changed...

i thank God for each day we are given to ask new questions and face new challenges and watch our sweet angel grow...and I pray that we continue to grow closer to Him

Swimming in the new pool

While his dada finished working on the deck last Sunday, Jonah went swimming (3 times!) in his new pool. He's a real fish...

labor of love

Doug has done an amazing job on the deck!!  Just a few more details and we'll be ready to host a "Deck Party".

1st day of school

(breakfast at home before going to school)

Today is Jonah's first day at Kinder Care...what a tough morning (for us). After settling him in and putting away his belongings and discussing his meals/naps/activities with the Miss. Tonya , Doug and I left the infant room crying (of course) and there sat Jonah on the ground playing with a new toy. He was smiling and happy and didn't even notice we were leaving. I guess it's harder on us than it is on him...
