1 month check up

Today, Hannah and I went to visit Dr. Brown for her 1 month check up.  While I hate that the little ones have to get their immunization shots during their well visits, I love to see how they grow.  Some people like to bet on horses and I like to bet on the weight of my children at each appointment.  So, we're getting her on the scale this morning and I say to the nurse, "she's not an ounce over 8 pounds but I know she's very close to 8 pounds"  the nurse laughed and said, "do you want to guess again?"  ...as if a mother doesn't know her own daughter... ha!  She weighs 9 lbs and 9 ounces!!  She gained 3 pounds in four weeks, one whole pound more than the average weight gain at this stage.  Hooray for Hannah and a healthy, growing body!

isn't she the cutest little thing?

After giving Hannah a bath just now, I realized that w/o those frilly headbands for newborn girls it's probably hard for someone to identify whether she's a girl or boy, especially when she's not dressed head to toe in pink.  So, I pulled out a dress from her closet and some knee high boots to see if at first glance she looked more girly...

Yep, she did, even if the dress was a denim overall dress and the boots were jonah's yellow rain boots....she's certainly a girl!

(I love any reason to play dress up and have a photoshoot!)

You are so beautiful sweet Hannah!

Things are really changing around here

Thanks to the home finance classes Jonah has been taking at the Goddard School, Doug and I no longer pay the bills or sign the grapes he's taken them over completely.

(below was the email that dougie sent out announcing the birth of our sweet, precious Hannah Jane Trueman...)

"Sarah and I are happy to announce the birth of our second child!
Hannah Jane Trueman was born on Friday, February 27th at 12:49 pm.
She weighs 6lb 15oz is 19" long, has lots of brown hair, steel blue
eyes and resembles her brother Jonah quite a bit. Sarah couldn't have
asked for a better labor and delivery and we're very thankful for all
of the great care she received at Riverside hospital. We're home and
settling into life as a family of four. Attached are a few pictures
of our beautiful little girl."

I promise to get back in the swing of blogging.  I'd like to say the baby has been keeping me up all night and Im just too tired to blog but that's just not the truth...the real story is I have a new found addiction to Facebook and that's what has kept me away.  I can't help but get sucked in by old grade school and high school friends and laugh with Robin every night at our silly commentary as we instant message one another instead of just picking up the phone.  It's too funny!

Anywho, life as a family of four is great.  There has certainly been a period of adjustment for all of us.  Poor Jonah is starting to understand that Hannah is here to stay and he doesn't go but a few minutes w/o saying "baby" or "sissy" if he doesn't see her.  He had a few days of meltdowns unlike anything Doug and I had seen.  This is probably par for course but pair that up with a tired mommy who can't shake a migraine and whoo-wee the days felt like they would never end.  Thankfully, we had some wonderful help from our parents during the first week.  They made meals, washed laundry, went on doctor visits, held babies, bathed babies and steam cleaned vomit out of the rug, took walks to the park and shared lots of love with all of us. They've all offered to come back too which means we didn't tucker them out too much.  ;-)

All in all, life is pretty sweet and we thank God each day for blessing us with two beautiful and healthy children!
