the infirmary

it started with an ache and a fever on wednesday night....and then it just got out of control. we're not sure where the virus came from but poor doug got it first and then jonah.  both of my babies were sick as dogs.  cold washcloths, tylenol, ice water, gatorade, clean sheets, more water, cold baths, thermometers....i think I did a pretty good job of care taking, until sunday morning came and I broke down and called in for backup.  my mom willingly came down to provide some relief.  i was exhausted and hyper sensative to every smell around me...you have to love the first trimester of pregnancy.  we really owe her for her help...she did 100 loads of laundry, made dinner, cleaned the kitchen 14 times and caught most of poor jonah's throw up on her shirt.

it's wednesday again and we're all on the up and up.  jonah stayed home from school again today to snuggle with his dad, mom took bella home with her so she can enjoy the farm and I'm back to work ;-)

thank you God for healing the trueman family and for sending us an angel to help when we needed it most

weekend in morristown

We decided to make a spur of the moment weekend visit to Liz, Noah, Anna and Benjamin's house in Morristown, NJ.  The drive was long but doug and I did a good job of sharing the driving and little jonah was so good.  We had a wonderful weekend...made great meals in, had a few wonderful meals out...the morristown deli, the grain house mmmmm.  Robin came for a visit on friday night as the babies were going to bed, it was wonderful to see her and share in some hilarious stories.  We drove to Princeton one afternoon to walk around the campus...it was really beautiful, just want you might imagine an ivy league campus to look like.  All in all, it was a great weekend, so good in fact, we thought about moving there.  ;-)  I didn't do such a great job taking pictures (forgive me for not getting any of sweet benjamin...he never stops smiling!)

thanks sissy and noah, you are the perfect hosts and we love spending time with you and your beautiful, happy children.

Jonah Picasso

Ms. Lindsey works with Jonah on his first painting!  Overall he had a great day yesterday!  He napped in the afternoon, ate all of his lunch, got a little bath and a costume change due to a "blow out", snuggled with Ms. Lindsey, read books, played with new toys and had two photoshoots.

jonah goes back to school....and more

Jonah had his first day at the Goddard School today. It was much harder leaving this time than it was the first time...I blame it on the hormones and the fact that i dropped him off alone. augh. he cried and cried which only made me cry off all my make up on my way to work. augh. He did warm up through out the morning and Colleen, the director was sweet enough to send this picture and letter that Jonah wrote to me...note the complete sentences, for his first day, I'd say he's doing pretty well! ....thank you Colleen!

"Mommy, As soon as you left I found Ms. Lindsey and I love her. I even speed crawled over to her when she went to change another friend. Also, August woke up a little bit after you left and I was happy to play with him on the floor. Here is a picture of me with Ms. Lindsey. I love you bunches and cannot wait to see you later today!"
Love,
Jonah

In addition to our school day, the trueman family went to meet Carrol O'Conner, the Mid-wife that I'll be going to for baby number 2. She was absolutely delightful... personable, interested, has two young boys of her own, asked lots of questions, gave me ample time to ask questions (and forget those I had planned on asking). this will be a different experience for us, a good choice to change doctors. My offical due date is March 6th. We go back on August 5th for the first ultra sound. God Bless this bitty baby, make him/her strong and healthy like our sweet jonah. Amen.

Dinner at the Park

A few new pictures from last night.  Doug is one great Dada...we picked up salads for dinner after work and went to Sharon Woods in Westerville to have a picnic!  Jonah was speed crawling, learning to throw the ball and chasing his stroller.

4th of July

We went to Chautauqua for the long 4th of July weekend...Jonah's 1st trip.  A few highlights included...
  • Jonah's first boat ride - we had to strap him in the infant size life jacket that swallowed his neck...poor thing.  i think he liked the wind on his face and the splashing of the waves but it will definitely be more enjoyable for him when he can fit into a jacket that's more comfy
  • The Mayville Parade - Olivia drove with Doug, Jonah and I to the parade.  We drove on the country roads over the huge hills singing at the top of our lungs to Laurie Berkner....WEEEEEeeeeeee!  We saw a guy wearing a huge snake around his neck - eweee!  The local librarians danced in the parade with their library carts "shushing" everyone.
  • The 1st Annual Cornhole Competition - Robin brought up her latest project, hand painting 2 cornhole sets.  they're beautiful!  She arranged quite a match.  olivia was my partner and I'm pretty sure she got more corn in the hole than any of us.  Robin's plan for winning was to get the competition tipsy on fruity beach drinks.
  • The Institute - Doug, Jonah and I walked to the Institute in the morning on Sunday...it was a perfect summer morning.  Jonah played in the sand, took a long nap in his stroller and we had coffee and a super sweet sticky roll that we bought from a church bake sale.  yummy!
It was a nice weekend for all.  Thank you Barb and Jim for having us up!

We picked up Bella after spending the weekend with her grandparents at the Farm.  They renamed her, "Shadow" - hmmm, I wonder why?  Thank you for taking care of her!
